Hello,
I had meant to write this post earlier but it has been a hectic time. Mostly in a good way but with a fair amount of stress involved. I took off work for Thursday and Friday because it was my birthday. Nick came up on a bus and we had a great time. Some family friends gathered on the patio and there was delicious food and love and caring. *and realtors and roommates calling about apartments* One of my bosses has a cake business on the side and surprised me with a delicious cake. It was marble cake with buttercream frosting and raspberries and chocolate ganache filling. Needless to say, the leftovers are gone.
| Happy birthday surprise |
The next day, I took Nick on a date to the opera. We made a picnic lunch and ate it before the opera started. Then, we were chased by a baby elephant! They are the work of a local artist and they never fail to make me smile. The opera itself was spectacular. I'm so glad that I was able to get extremely discounted tickets for it. Aida, I had never seen it before. It was so lovely, the singing, the everything.
| Beware the baby elephant! |
I had a good two day break and and am back to work. Today has been a slow day at my retail job so I've been feeling useless. My boss came in and told me to take a nap. Benefits of a day this slow include that I wrote a few of you letters. Keep an eye on the mailboxes folks! Hoping your week is off to a good start.
Happy birthday again! Your weekend looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteLiving frugally, is a fulltime job in and of itself.
This might sound really weird, but in the picture with you and your cake, you look scarily similar to this guy I know who used to live in New York. I mean, now I'm almost convinced you and he are related. Does the name Paul Schneider ring a bell? ha ha
ReplyDeleteAll that aside, Happy Birthday once more! I'm glad you got to go on a date and enjoy some time off work. That baby elephant is adorable!
I've been sick these past fews days aka unmotivated to do anything, especially creative, so there's been some delay on getting a card written and sent, but I promise one is coming your way soon! :)
Happy Birthday again! It looks like you had a fun time!
ReplyDeleteOh man. I may clash with my dad occasionally, but I do not take living with my parents for granted. I have to file all of my dad's receipts and bills and just the sheer cost of basic living is super scary to me. Luckily, the air force will help out with my housing after I complete my training.
Best of luck with remaining frugal.
I love those two pictures. I'm so glad you had a good birthday!
ReplyDeleteAll of the apartment stuff is stressful, but you're going to enjoy it so much! I don't know if she would know anything, but I will ask my friend if she knows of any jobs you could apply for!
Happy birthday! And congrats on the apartment! Five jobs sounds super stressful, but I'm sure your resume is sooo impressive.
ReplyDeleteAlso, that cake sounds so good. I'm crying a little
I absolutely love the second photo so much. I'm glad to hear that you had a marvelous birthday! Delicious cake and discounted tickets and such are always part of a good time. It's great that you've found a nice apartment that I'm sure you will be happy in. Just an idea, but if you have somewhere you could plant them, you could grow some of your own fruit and vegetables to save a bit on groceries. Every little bit helps, right?
